Wendy from WMCPR shares with us the story behind her 20 year old brand. Wendy has more than 20 years’ experience in large, medium and small public relations consultancies and is the director of WMCPR.
Established in 1992, WMC Public Relations Melbourne is results driven, building your brand and your profile through innovative and creative PR and publicity programs, whether a long term or one-off project.
What does your brand mean to you?
As I have had the brand for more than 20 years, it is special as it has so much built into it such as the reputation it has earned and a high level of respect in the business community.
Did you know the personality of your brand before you created it?
The personality of the brand is a reflection of my personal brand so I helped shape it and have continued to mould it ever since.
If your brand was a person who would it be?
I don’t have a name, but it’s someone who cares for the environment, enjoys helping other people, strives for results and enjoys business (sounds like me!).
Has your brand changed or grown since you started in business?
The name has remained the same, but we changed our logo and tagline after 20 years to better reflect how we operate today and to modernise it.
What is the message that your brand conveys?
We purposely wanted colours that are warm and attractive, showing that we are easy to work with. And the tagline, Strategy. Action. Results. is designed to demonstrate that the agency is focused on getting results for clients.
What do the colours of your brand mean to you?
When the brand turned 20, we redesigned our corporate image as the old one needed refreshing. Now the colours reflect warm earthy tones, with a red included to keep a link to the past colours. The colours used, along with green used on our website and Twitter backgrounds are designed to show a connection to the environment, which we are passionate about.
What is your tip for business owners creating their brand?
Well, I’ve just published a book called Brand Engagement, so I’d love to share this important tip:
Choose a name and image that reflect what you do and how you do it. Then live the brand.
